Review Extravaganza: Shaking Mormon Tales

July August September

These months were…unique.

I wrote a series of posts–Tales From my TV News Journey Parts 1, 23.  They covered three personal career failures that turned out to be amazing blessings in my life.

I then was a little shaken up when I found out one of my blog friends was blog bluffing!

I told people why they may NOT want to be a Mormon.

And finally I wrote, my most read post, maybe still, Seaweed.

Grumpy Grateful Mom Goal of the Day: Being grateful that my daughter no longer plays with Seaweed.

Have a beautiful Christmas everyone!

  1. I remember the blog bluffing incident and recently had my own experience. When I asked her a couple of questions, she stopped blogging and so far hasn’t been back – it’s been about 2 weeks…

    • Really? I’m curious what made you realize she was lying. Even after that happening it would still take something very noticeable for me to suspect someone. Though I’m fairly certain the people I’ve become good blog friends are real, you included. 🙂

  2. OHMYGOODNESS! SEAWEED! I’m still laughing! I don’t know how you survived that one! I would have died.

Love the stories about your jobs. Everything works out in the end, eh?

    Another great recap =)

  3. A beautiful Christmas to you and the family too 🙂

  4. I did not know you were Mormon. I’m Southern Baptist and sorry, but you’re stuck with me. 🙂

I think Mormon and Muslim are the only two faiths that do not have a representative in my family. We have So. Baptists, Catholic, Pentecostal, and Jehovah’s Witness. And I’m sure we have an atheist or agnostic too.

The majority of us are either Baptist or Catholic.

Either way… MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! And once again, sorry, but you’re stuck with me! 😉

  5. LOL…oh how could I have forgotten about the “seaweed” post. Best laugh of the year! Merry Christmas and all the blessings of the season to you and yours!

  6. a fake blogger? whoa fascinating! and I liked your confessions too 🙂

  7. just read the seaweed post and I laughed until I was shaking!!

  8. Merry Christmas to you and family! Have a great New Year too! 🙂

  9. I love Mormons, oh yeah I am one. I went back and read your blog bluffing post, so funny. That is really the strangest thing ever about your friend, really so weird! The great thing about having a blog is being completely honest and finding understanding, support and sympathy through this community. Have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!

  10. I had to go back and read some of those posts since I hadn’t found you then… Oh. My. Heavens! I absolutely loved your post about not wanting to be a Mormon. Hilarious. I’m one of the half that is addicted to Coke… and I’m not afraid to say it out loud. haha.

  11. Merry Christmas lady!!!

  12. I’m so glad I just read all of these!!!! Especially that last one. Now I’m really glad all of Lexie’s unconventional friends were imaginary. ;o)

Sooo…the whole incident of the girl lying about her baby sort of freaks me out. I get really invested in the lives of the bloggers I follow daily. I would be REALLY hurt if I found out one was lying, especially about something so big. You don’t think this happens often, do you??

    • Thanks Sarah Kate! I feel so fortunate to have you as a sweet new friend!

I didn’t keep up with that girl daily or I think I would have noticed…maybe. Though I’m not normally suspicious of people, especially women. I’ve talked to several friends who have run into this, but I still don’t think it’s very common or at least that’s what I choose to believe. 🙂

  13. Been reading your links, loved why you might not want to be a Mormon one. I am a morning person- or well used to be- so avoided the diet-coke need. 🙂

    Thanks for cohosting!

  14. I had to go and read the blog bluffing post, too funny! That poor snail never saw it coming.

  15. That blog bluffing story is crazy! Why would someone do that?

I can’t believe you had a real jail in your house. Your mother must be a saint.

  16. Enjoy your holiday season! hope you have some fun stories for after

  17. That blog bluffing story is just bizarre! I cannot imagine why someone would do that!?! And the seaweed thing…Oh my goodness! She’s gonna freak when she’s older and see’s this! LMAO

  18. I’m always suspicious of people so I think I could spot a bluffing blogger a mile away.

  19. Those stories are great! I’m a newer reader and hadn’t read all of them. The Seaweed one seriously had me laughing out loud at my desk…..Love it!! It reminds me that I need to relocate several items in drawers that are in reach of my munchkin.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!!

  20. A fake blogger??? That’s horrible! I am still giggling about Seaweed. I just went back and read all of them.

  21. I just read your post, “Seaweed” and was hysterically laughing. At first, I wasn’t so sure of what she had there. The second photo made me LOL and screech! Omygoodness, “seaweed!!!” That has made my afternoon. I remember when I found one of those when I was younger…I had NO idea what it was! Lol
    You’re too much!!

And I loved your post on your faith. I think it’s awesome – all you shared. I really admire you, Janae!!

I’m wishing you and your beautiful family a wonderful and magical Christmas!! I hope it blesses you greatly!!
Thank you for being such a sweet and kind friend!!

  22. Yep, no caffeine would definitely be a Mormon dealbreaker for me!

  23. It was fun to read your past posts! Glad to know you’ve decided to come clean!

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

  24. Ok, so I am SUPER intrigued by your bloggy friend that was making stuff up! Who, What, Where, Why? I’m a very “curious” person! I’m glad you were able to come clean after that though. I may never come all the way clean. People may disown me. HA!

  25. Wow,blog bluffing…I thought maybe you meant she was talking about leaving. But to be be blogging about a baby…hmmm. I drink Diet Coke. And sometimes I joke and say I could use a stiff drink. But in all honestly I detest everything about alcohol. But I do thank the Lord for putting the Word of Wisdom in place!

  26. Wishing you and your lovely family a Merry Merry Christmas. I do love to read your blog post about your family, I have said this to you before but it brings back great memories of my kids when they were little.

  27. And I am part of the smart group addicted to diet Pepsi. I’m so glad I found your blog from this review, and you can bet that I’ll be back. New follower and you’re on my blog roll. That means even more than following, in my little world.

  28. That is soo weird that someone would lie on their blog like that. It’s one thing to be anonymous like me, and not give away specifics, but it’s quite another to invent things completely! I feel like the blogs I watch all the time are my friends, and it would feel like they were lying to me personally.

  29. I thought I had read everyone of your posts but I missed Seaweed! I don’t know what else to say except I’m still laughing and I read it 30 min ago!!! Please move to New York with your fantastic family!!! I love you! Since coffee is the glue that holds my marriage together I would have a hard time with the no caffeine thing too! Merry Merry Christmas!! Love to you my dear blogging friend!!

  30. I had missed Seaweed, too. Still chuckling! I love the idea of doing a 2011 wrap-up. I’m stealing the idea and I’ll try to get in done in time to join this link-up. Have a wonderful Christmas!

  31. Merry Christmas!

  32. I admit that I still laugh at the Seaweed post!

  33. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas

  34. Merry Christmas to my blogging friend!

  35. Thanks for sharing these posts – I hadn’t seen all of them before, and that seaweed post is hilarious! It took me a minute to figure out what it was 🙂

  36. Oh yes! I remember those posts! Especially the day I found out you CAN’T DRINK COFFEE!!! How horrible. I remember you telling us about the pretend baby, and how grateful it made me that I was pregnant with a REAL baby! =) And of course I remembeer the seaweed. I have a couple seaweed packs sitting out on my dresser, and I was just thinking how I should hide them away lest my children find them and start playing with them while we have company this weekend! Have a great New Year’s weekend!

  37. It is fun t look back on posts and recognize them… the blog bluffing post is one of the first of yours that I read I think. Still love it!
