My Talented Children

My kids are progressing with lightening speed.  They’ve come a long way, just this week!

Dax, for instance, has developed a new-found passion for books.

Then there’s Mase.  He has become an expert strawberry picker.  Those green ones can be tricky to find!

And Evie didn’t want to get left out.  She has been working on her acting skills:

I decided to stay home from church with a sickish baby this past Sunday.  Evie was laying on the couch and told me in her most feeble voice, “I’m too sick to go to church.”  I had her stay home with us.

After the rest of our family left for church, Evie jumps off the couch and says with a smile,  “You know what’s funny Mom?  I am home sick from church today and I don’t like church.  Isn’t that weird?”

Grumpy Mom Goal of the Day:  I will be grateful that Dani isn’t progressing as quickly as my other three kids.

That Evie's a smart girl! That excuse works for grownups too!

  2. Mom of 12 says:

Don't you just love it when they have a miraculous recovery?!

  3. Help! Mama Remote... says:

ROTFL I think you need to enroll her into acting school quick! Don't want those talents to go to waste. Looks like you have a bookworm & a strawberryologist on your hands ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. The Lymans says:

That "Sunday sickness" runs rampant at my house, too!

  5. We have a book ripper too. Not cool!
And my little girl has pulled that on me. Only, it's wasn't church, it was a day that I would have gone into my son's class to volunteer, and she was going to a friends house to play. She pretended to be sick. Lil' stinker!

  6. m&msmommy says:

Oh my gosh, that comment from Evie totally cracked me up! ๐Ÿ™‚ Sounds like some Sundays in our house! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your children are quite advanced, you should be proud! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Ashley Sloan says:

Oh man haha. Hopefully she decides she likes church soon hehe. That green strawberry is funky too!

And it would be fun to work in radio ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. RoryBore says:

wow, seems like you put a camera and mic in our house! LOL. going berry picker next week…must teach colors prior to leaving for berry patch.

  9. An Irish Italian Blessing says:

Oh man, the ripped book is the story of my life….it's almost funner when it's a library book too. That's not embarassing.at.all. Sounds like Evie might need to do a few auditions with those kind of acting skills!

  10. Evie cracks me up!!!! We had a book ripper, it drove me crazy, I didn't see the brillance in it, how foolish of me!!! Lol!! I so love your blog, I love your family!!! You are such a good mom!! Take care!

  11. 1HecticMommy says:

too funny. Evie keeps you on your toes, wait till she is a teen ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a book ripper for a short time, but stopped it REAL quick.

  12. Jessica says:

My oldest has the fake sickness mastered too because she knows when she is sick she can lay on the couch and watch TV all day. My little one is a great strawberry picker too although she usually just eats them on the vine instead of actually picking them off.

  13. Sandra's Fiberworks says:

my boys love to go to church now because they're allowed to trade their Pokemon cards. At least I'm not dragging them…

funny you should comment right now: working on the continued gerbil saga as we speak (write).

  14. It pretty much sounds like our kids would be best friends. Ripped books – check. Hates church – check. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Saunders Crew says:

dang and i thought we were the only ones with the sickies on sunday. for 4 sundays in a row….someone has been "under the weather"…what is it with kids and church???

  16. That is too funny! My kids tried doing that when they were younger. They had the sad face, weak voice and all hunched over. Pitiful things. Of course I said we don't have to go today. Miracles of miracles they recover so quickly and turn on their favorite channel.

  17. laughwithusblog says:

I can relate to the progress in your household! Love it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. JennyLynn says:

Awe, the strawberry made me sad. I have had Sundays just like yours.

  19. The Home C.E.O. says:

    classic. love it!

  20. Amanda @ Gratefully Growing in Grace says:

This is great… funny how it's funnier when it's not your children….

  21. Too funny. My son picked the tomato off of a plant for me. Too bad it was green, hard and the size of a golf ball. LOL Oh well, kids will be kids right?

  22. Hello! I'm Kate. says:

    Lololol!!!

And they all grow up too fast!

  23. Laura@livingabigstory says:

That's hilarious! Buddy called me to say he was sick from school last year. I thought it was suspicious and, when we got home, said he'd need to spend the day really resting so he could go back to school — no books, music, tv. After 20 minutes, he came downstairs and said he felt better so could he go back to school. I expressed extreme concern that his feeling better was just fleeting, so I really needed him to just rest. After 6 hours in bed staring at the ceiling, he was going NUTS!

Yeah, he's never played sick again ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. This is so funny! Your little Evie would be a perfect match for my John. He's going through a not liking church phase too. At least I hope it's just a phase!!

  25. Charlotte says:

That is some real talent you have there!
