Sister Sweetness

My six- and seven-year-old girls are the best of friends, except for the majority of the time, when they are mortal enemies.

While driving home from a Christmas activity, Dani just couldn’t find the will to be nice to her sister.   It was almost bedtime and she was sentenced to a night in her room.

Dani
I just can’t ever be nice.   I should go to jail forever.

Evie
(said seriously while we were still driving)
Why don’t you start by getting out of the car.

And there seems to be a ritual bedtime clash between my two friends.  Here’s one of many recent nighttime scuffles.

Evie
Dani said I signed a contract to switch beds and I did NOT sign a contract!  I don’t even know what a contract is.

Thankfully, the sisters did team together this week to organize their bedroom drawers.   They were singing and giggling while they worked.  I was thrilled they were getting along…until I saw their organization results.drawer organization

Grumpy Grateful Mom Goal of the Day: Unorganizing the organization.

Comments

  1. Sibling rivalry! They’ll appreciate each other more when they’re older 🙂

  2. Love how they organised their drawer.

  3. They are too cute! I love I didn’t sign a contract, I don’t even know what a contract is!!! Perfect!! I love your site!! And, love you!!

  4. Hahahaha! That is so funny!! And creepy at the same time!

  5. This is so cute. I remember when are kids were little and our oldest daughter would always tell us that her life would have be so much better if she would have been an only child and that her sibblings wouldn’t have been born. Now that she is grown her sibblings and her are so close and she is so glad that she has them in her life.

  6. so cute! only because it reminds me of my sister and I. rest assured we are best friends now… although a little sibling rivalry still sneaks in now and again 😉

  7. Hahaha you have noooooo idea how much they sound like my girls!!!!! I just have to chuckle! Especially YHWH contract part!

  8. LOL. One day they will be the best of friends and will learn how to organize.

  9. LOL….love this post of yours. The kids are cute.

  10. Oh how familiar this sounds. I have two girls and depending on the day and time they are either BFFs or mortal enemies. Add in big brother and well now we have a whole lot of fun. The whole reorganizing cracked me up.

  11. Ha, that cracks me up! 🙂 They will get along some day I am sure! It took til my sister moved out for us to get along.

  12. haha its too funny. although, i’m sure you dont find it as funny in the middle of it!

why dont’ you start by getting out of the car. LOL

  13. That first sentence cracked me up – because it’s just how my girls are! They’re secretly best friends, but openly enemies. I’m not showing them the picture of what your girls did with their drawers – they’d definitely get ideas!

  14. I never had a sister, but I’m pretty sure I would have argued like that.
Cuz you just gotta argue with your best friend.

I love the drawer organization. Looks like it will keep things pressed. Do they share clothes?

Haha! She didn’t know what a contract was? So cute.

  15. That last pic is kinda scary lol, looks like a few sets of legs in there!! Hahaha your girls are seriously funny, I love that get out of the car comment!!! Never a dull moment hey 🙂

  16. This cracks me up. my two youngest are girls – 4 1/2 and 2 yrs old right now. The 2 year old is talking more and more these days, but the 4 yr old still does most of the jabbering. Most of the time they are actually pretty sweet together., but every now and then you hear a very emphatic “no, naina, No!”, and I know the 2 year old is resisting her “orders”. LOL They also share a bedroom – the teen years should be very interesting.

  17. When my kids fight, I assign them a job they have to do together. If that doesn’t work, I assign them harder jobs that they have to do separately. It usually gets them to cooperate right away. I don’t know, there are probably lots of better ways, but people are always saying they are impressed with how well my kids get along. That’s because they are terrified of having to do a bunch of chores!

  18. It took me a minute to get it! I was thinking they only have four pairs of pants! So slow today! Funny!

  19. Haha! Your girls sound like a riot! I’m sure you’ll miss it someday when they’re both all grown up. 🙂

  20. LOOOOVE the picture, that’s seriously some well thought out organization!!

  21. Oh my gosh I thought they stuffed each other in the draws there for a minute!! Sibling rivilery….I am just getting to this stage now, and it ain’t pretty!!

  22. Haha!!! This sounds very familiar. Love their organizational skills 😉

  23. What the….? Nice organization girls! 🙂

  24. You have to admit that it does ‘look’ clean and neat!
My two oldest are not ALWAYS mortal enemies. Sometimes they are ambivalent. We always whip out the camera to capture it for proof that it occasionally happens.

  25. That organization solution is hilarious!!!

  26. —-Very Sweet.
Makes me miss my sister soooooooooooo much. X
    ~savor the moments.

  27. Wow, sounds like my house!!!! Want a few more…. You can borrow them for a bit!

  28. HAHAHAHA!!
omygoodness, thank you daughters for the organizing tips 😉
that is hilarious!! for a second, (a very short second) i thought that was them in the drawers!!
    very clever!! 🙂

hope you have a happy monday <3

  29. I have link you your post in my blog today. Hope you dont mind. A big thank you to you for inspiring me to do the year end review. Am not joining the year end review but doing it for fun. Not professional enough :p

  30. UGH!! My boys fights drive me to drink! They will fight over who gets to wash their hands before a meal first. Who DOES that?

  31. THOSE DRAWERS!!!!!! I don’t know if I would have laughed or cried. My kids stuff dirty clothes in their drawer and they are forever messy but your girls, oh my goodness…..they are clever ones. That is seriously too much. I’ve never seen anything like it. They are way out of the box thinkers. In the long run it’s great, they’re obviously Brilliant! But in the mean time, you’ve got you’re work cut out for you..

  32. LOL! They may not be pros at organization but they are certainly creative! Love it!

  33. That’s a great first attempt at “organization”!

  34. Kids say the funniest things and they don’t even realize it! My daughter grabbed a pair of tweezers from our bathroom and brought them to me and asked what they were. I told her and she started going around saying, “Oooh tweezers, yeah.” It cracked me up!

  35. Did they stuff all of their other clothes into their pants?! Oh, you are going to have your hands full with those two! I picture Ferris Bueller’s house when the Principal came to his house and he had it all rigged to look like he was in bed but he wasn’t…good luck!
Seriously love how you can always make me laugh with the way you share!

  36. Yes did they stuff all their clothes into their pants? LOL never dull moment at your house!

  37. It was worth it if there was no fighting along the way! That’s too funny!

  38. LOVE their organization skills!!! hahahah!!

my brother and I fought like cats and dogs! It does get better, but probably not until they are both out of the house and each have their own families. Until then… I’ll be praying for you! 😉

  39. This is my first smile for the day. It actually was a LOL moment. I love following you and it brings back so many memories of raising children and this one was so cute. I have three boys and then three girls. I remember my girls doing some of these things.
Blessings to you for the smiles and and keep on enjoying the moments of this Christmas Season.
Thanks for your sweet comments on my site.

  40. Your kids are hilarious! I always wanted to have a sister. They’ll grow up to be best friends, and that’s just awesome 🙂

  41. Aaaahh… sisters. I have two younger sisters, and we pretty much just made each other miserable (we like each other now, though…ususally). 😉 Treasure the good times, haha.

  42. Oh, the stuffed jeans made me laugh!…that is classic! My sister and I used to just kill each other, and now we are business partners, so don’t give up hope;)

  43. Thedesertrocks says:

I’m the older sister and as you probably know my name is Eve or as my siblings called me Evie. As far as the pants–well we always argued about who was neater since we shared the closet, but she would never have gone for such a great idea! LOL

  44. Oh, I love this. The organization is great and love the sisterly love!

  45. Your kids say the cutest things when they’re fighting, unlike my kids, who say mean things when they’re fighting…

  46. Oh, they are too cute! It’s so hard not to laugh when they say things like that!

  47. Hee hee hee! I love the organization. 🙂 Hey, it looks better than when my husband organizes his drawers…

  48. Okay, did they stuff the clothes inside the clothes we see on the picture?? Hilarious! HA!
They remind me of me and my 2 sisters….good times, well most of the time. 😉

  49. LOL! “Why don’y you start by getting out of the car?” Hahahaha! What a delightful child!

  50. great post new here can’t wait to read more posts

  51. i don’t even know what a contract is. . . too cute.

  52. Why is bedtime so hard? It’s like we are killing them. lol!

  53. Reminds me of my childhood with my sister except I did more hitting.

  54. So….what’s new? heh heh…sounds toooo familiar! Love the way they did the drawers though..no wonder the giggles. 🙂

  55. LOL! Did they stuff all of their clothes inside the pant legs? Sibling rivalry. . . . . I lived through it and my kids are bound and determined to pay me back for whatever grief my sister and I gave my mom. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!

  56. Wow, that sounds just like Dylan and Lexie these days!
    Love the drawer…too funny!

  57. Lol! Well at least they were working together right? And yea, siblings just really do have a love/hate relationship

  58. Too funny! I loved the contract quote!! 🙂

And at least they were working together on their organization. 🙂

  59. Well, their drawer is definitely more organized! It’s actually impressive that they made it look that pretty…LOL

  60. Well my brother and I used to be like cats and dogs when we were little. Not until we grew up and learned how to accept each other’s differences. They will remember all this quarrels when they’re older and just laugh about the memories.
