Ahh, the Thanksgiving Memories

Thanksgiving was memorable, as always.

We ran a lengthy turkey race around our cul-de-sac.
Here are two of the losers fierce competitors.

Β There was a Β pre-Thanksgiving dinner bandit this year.bite out of dessert

The bandit was later caught sound asleep with some thieved crackers.

I broke out my most beautiful plastic dishes for our feast.Thanksgiving dinner

We also enjoyed some delicious eggnog.egg nog on couch

The leftovers went faster than I expected.
Here we have my homemade cranberries.cranberries dumped on stairs

And a bonus to our already amazing holiday. Β My seven-year-old
daughter informed me that she is the world champion for wearing a
tailΒ the longest — two almost full days…and nights.

Grumpy Grateful Mom Goal of the Season: Appreciating my truly wonderful days.

  1. Love the bandit’s photo – and the plastic wear – makes it easier and simple!

  2. Oh dear about the cranberries!!!

Your little bandit is adorable, and the plastic wear would make for a much less stressful Thanksgiving!

  3. Wow, getting those cranberries out of carpet doesn’t look like it’s going to be fun.

  4. oh nooooo. hahahahahahaha. you poor thing.
I loved the “honest” look at your day. Did you get the cranberries out of your carpet?
If you need help, we are “tight” with Stanley Steemer and may be able to pull some strings for you!

    • I think I need to be “tight” with Stanley Steemer” too. My kids have had a knack for staining our carpet lately. I thought my stairs would be permanently pink, though I actually discovered the magic of rubbing alcohol and baking soda–took it right out!

  5. looks like lots of laughs for the holidays to remember

  6. The cranberries on the carpet was a tough one for me, I wanted to faint, especially since I know you just had them cleaned!! Lol!! Great post!! I love your Holiday China, did you register for it along with your other wedding china! I use a similar pattern myself! Glad you had a happy holiday!! Love to you!!

  7. I want a tail like that! What a fun family holiday!

  8. Oh no, sorry about your carpet. Were you able to get the stains out? Dinner looks delicious, glad to know you had a nice holiday!!

  9. love the sleeping bandit! your pictures always crack me up πŸ™‚

  10. OH NO! Is that your recently cleaned carpet wearing festive cranberrries? someone would owe me their allowance — for life! Ha ha
Hope you had a wonderful holiday.
it’s 9 am and I want cherry cheesecake for breakfast. It’s got fruit though, right?

  11. It sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving!
Your daughter’s feat is awesomely impressive lol!
and I kind of felt like the bandit on Thursday too!

  12. Oh no, those cranberries!!!
Sounds like a fabulous Thanksgiving, though!!!

  13. Oh goodness! How are you going to get that cranberry stain off your carpet? Glad you had such wonderful Thanksgiving memories! πŸ™‚

  14. Oh, dear. The cranberries.

  15. The cranberries are red, you’ve just got an early start on Christmas decorating. Yikes
Looks like you and the family had a blast.
You also use my favourite dinnerware, it’s just so much easier after you’ve spent the day(s) in the kitchen

  16. Oh how I bet you are overjoyed with having your carpets cleaned just so you would have a nice spot for your cranberries. They look fabulous…all spread out and everything. I would have loved to use my paper plates. I have china from my grandmother that I use and have NEVER used my own. I broke some of my grandmother’s this time around.. paper plates would have been so much better. Your bandit looks POOPED!! talk about talent to fan the crackers out so perfectly! hah! You’re kids are a hoot!! xoxo! Great memories!

  17. Oh, my goodness..! “)

  18. Your photos are really great. They tell their own story. Very funny, that last picture …

  19. We normally use our china on Thanksgiving, but my kids were playing a game and no one could be bothered to help so I set the table with paper plates. They didn’t dare complain and clean up was SO much easier! Happy Thanksgiving!

  20. Cutest bandit I have ever seen! I really hope that you get those stains out of your carpet!

  21. These were the best Thanksgving photos that I have seen in years! Sorry about the carpet though…hope that came up easier than it looks like it would. I am still giggling as I write this thinking of the bandit with the crackers in hand! So funny!

  22. Sounds like a great Thanksgiving!! I love the pic of your son asleep with the crackers in his hand.

  23. You DID NOT get cranberries all over your carpet??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh!
    That’s painful to see.

I love your fancy holiday ware. I shoulda done the same thing.

Looks like the bandit is on cracker overload.

Also looks like you had a great time.

    • Oh, the carpet was painful for me to see too. But! I discovered a magical stain removing secret (rubbing alcohol and baking soda). I had no idea of their great stain removing powers!
BTW, I’m craving pecan pie tonight–I blame you. πŸ™‚

  24. Looks like you had a wonderful time! Okay… aside from the spilled cranberries (ugh) and the eggnog seat! πŸ™‚ I also love the tail… πŸ˜€ Thanks for sharing your day.

    In Christ,

  25. Ack about the cranberries on the carpet. That looks something like my kids would do..

  26. Oh NO! Your newly cleaned carpet. UGH!

I’m glad you had an eventful day! Makes life interesting!

  27. Fun! I am not sure about the cranberries on the carpet. As usual I laughed and enjoyed your pictures and thoughts.
Keep on enjoying those family memories.

  28. OH my gosh…your clean carpet!!! Those cranberries…oh boy.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving anyway πŸ™‚

  29. The cranberries made me gasp out loud. Hope it was still a wonderful holiday.

  30. Oh my goodness! I hope those cranberries come out of your carpet, otherwise you’ll have Thanksgiving memories all year round! Your cracker thief is pretty darn cute!!

  31. looks like it was a lovely day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. Oh no! Your poor stairs and carpet! I think you should just give up on your carpet until your kids move out! That’s what I have done… πŸ™‚ Only a few more years to go and I can get new carpet and new couches!

  33. Happy Thanksgiving! As usual, love the pics. πŸ™‚ Congrats on your worldwide tail-wearing champion!

  34. I hope the carpet stain came out. Happy Thanksgiivng!!

  35. Seems to always be an adventure at your place! Love the bandit with the crackers! Caught red handed!

  36. Oh my goodness. You just can’t catch a break with carpet!!

I’ve seen those tails. What gives? I don’t think that craze has reached SoGA yet.

    Cutest theif Eva!! :o)

  37. Okay, that’s a lot of spills. The cranberries look the hardest to clean up…

  38. Nothing wrong with red plastic in my book. The cranberries on the stairs look painful though;)

  39. Wow on the cranberries!!! OMG, I would have cried – love how you post it instead of crying lol!

Plastic ware is totally the best and should be a staple at every large meal.

  40. After all it does look like you had a fabulous Thanksgiving and I’m glad! Since you are an expert in removing sharpie stains out of carpets..I’m pretty sure you won’t have a problem removing your cranberry stains πŸ˜‰ Let me know how it goes!

  41. Oh no! Those cranberries!! eek. Looks like you guys had a great Thanksgiving though. Love all the pics. πŸ™‚

  42. Sounds like another great day!
SN: That poor carpet doesn’t stand a chance…..maybe you should just leave it until they move out. lol

  43. You little guy is adorable.

    Sorry about the carpet. πŸ™

  44. Oh my goodness!! Those cranberries and your stairs…:(
Funny though (as usual you don’t disappoint)
Looks like a great Thanksgiving, with tasty eggnog and full tummies asleep on the floor! My kind of party lol

  45. Ohh your poor carpets with the cranberries. I cringed. And you broke out the best dinner wear, you shouldn’t have. That looks like our house. I am sorry I already had too many dishes to wash, paper plates and plastic utensils it was. They work great, why not! Glad you guys had a nice Thanksgiving.

  46. Aw!

  47. I love that picture of the sleeping theif and I believe your daughter is right that she holds the record. Congratulations.

  48. You house is adventureland at all times! My heart hurts for the cranberries all over the carpet. Ouch!

  49. Happy Thanksgiving!! I am envious of the plastic plates! I had all intentions of breaking them out and forgot last minute! They save so much time! As always, this post made me smile and laugh. I’m so sorry about the cranberries!! You rock! You seriously do! I love that you don’t sweat it…take photos of every single memory and share it!!
    You’re one blessed woman!!
    Much love,

  50. This was funny and made me smile. I love your fine plastic china! πŸ™‚

  51. I must say that your Thanksgivings must never have a dull moment! LOL!

  52. OMG! The cranberries! My first question is, why were they near the white carpeted stairs? My second question is, what is up with the red Christmas stocking in the same picture? Are these items related to the tragedy?

That cracker thief is so darn cute when peacefully asleep!

    • Your questions made me laugh! We have a fridge downstairs and my 6-year-old daughter was taking them down for me, but she tripped! She was OK, but obviously the cranberries met their demise.

And my children so kindly decided to throw stockings all over the house–I think that one really added to the festiveness of the photo. πŸ™‚

      • I thought maybe the stocking was put there to distract from the cranberry mess. Kind of like newspaper over spilled milk.. πŸ™‚ But no question, it definitely adds to the festiveness! πŸ™‚

        Is your carpet ruined?

  53. We used paper plates too! Best idea! Soooo sorry about the cranberries.

  54. Another one of those posts where hubs asks what I am laughing at from across the room, lol. So glad I don’t have to clean up those cranberries!

  55. These pictures made me laugh. Your days are always so eventful!

  56. Hooray for plastic dishes! Glad you were able to get those cranberries out!

  57. Great dinnerware! I am hosting Christmas dinner this year, first time ever for any holiday for me. And I’m thinking about using the china stashed in my cupboard that I’ve never used before. I’m crazy, right???

  58. Oh my! We had beautiful foam. Lol

  59. Those cranberries are quite a mess. I think that little bandit was cute though. Haha. I bet it was a tiring but wonderful day.

  1. […] I reminisced about our Thanksgiving. Evie and my homemade cranberries took a tumble down the stairs.Β Though a permanently pink carpet […]
